For many, spring is a time to rejuvenate the body after a long hard winter and for them there are many spring trip destinations to choose from. Here are 10 of what many thought were the best spring trip 2012 destinations:
01: National Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington, D.C.
Ever since 1912 when Japan presented the US with 3,000 Cherry trees, the pink and white cherry blossoms have welcomed the spring in the US capital. Festivities in all, last for about 5 weeks but the actual festival day is April 14th.
02: Coast Path, Wales
At a length of 870 miles, this is the longest continuous coastal path in one country. The path comprises of ancient trails, disused rail lines, sandy beaches and rugged cliff top paths. Along the way you can see Britain’s smallest city, Conwy castle and woodlands.
03: Vienna, Austria
This was home to Habsburgs and Mozart and there are always plenty of things to do her but, visiting before the summer rush can make it easier to buy tickets and allow an occasional relaxation with a coffee, away from great crowds.
04: Myanmar
It is only recently that people have been allowed to once again visit this country and so there are many, as yet, unexplored valleys and ancient villages awaiting your discovery.
05: Istanbul, Turkey
Although being a major hub for the Byzantine, Roman and Ottoman Empires Istanbul has kept its character throughout. In April it has an International Tulip Festival and May sees the start of the Istanbul Music Festival, a perfect time to see where Europe meets Asia.
06: Chile’s Lake and volcano regions
Nestled between Atacama to the north and Patagonia to the south, in central Chile, is a region containing ten volcanoes and dozens of green lakes. A total of ten National Parks are in this region and between them offer zip lining, white water rafting, hiking of all kinds and other adventurous pursuits.
07: Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Tennessee and North Carolina
There are 800 miles of hiking trails in this park and spring is the best time to see the diverse wildlife in the park. This is also the best time to witness the wildflowers and 25th to 28th April is the annual Spring Wildlife Pilgrimage.
08: Voss, Norway
Located in the southwest of Norway, this is in the center of the Fjords and is home to adventure sports of all kinds. Early to mid-spring is still a good time for winter sports, yet they are also getting ready for extreme sports week starting in the June, so everything is available for you to try.
09: Temps de Flors Festival, Girona, Spain
The Temps de Flors Festival is in May and the whole of the Costa Brava region is alive with colors. Experience the colors as you walk the cobbled lanes and ancient Roman walls.
10: Expo 2012, Yeosu, South Korea
The Expo 2012 ‘The Living Ocean and Coast’ was ideally set among this peninsula’s 300 jagged Islands.
