When you are looking for somewhere to go for your annual family holiday vacations and you are looking at the top 10 vacation spots and get tired of seeing cheap Caribbean holidays, consider a family cruise. A cruise may not necessarily spring to mind as a family holiday idea as you may think of it more as a romantic holiday but that was in the past. Today there are many cruises that are specifically designed with the family in mind and when you consider the wide variety of snacks and foods available on the cruise ships, one of the perhaps major concerns for the kids is already taken care of. Although over the years, cruise ships have become more orientated to the needs of families with kids, they still haven’t forgotten to keep the more adult entertainment. Here are a few cruise lines that especially consider the needs of a family on vacation.
Disney Cruise Line
Disney not only designed its activity programs with kids in mind, it even designed its cruise ships with them as the main point of focus. The cruise ships will have supervised activities from 9AM until midnight for kids ranging in age from 3 months to 17 years, segregated into different activities for different age groups. The ships designs will usual include a full half deck for activities for kids from 3 to 12. The ability for the adults to have somewhere that the kids can be securely entertained or looked after until midnight, means that they can enjoy an evening show in the adult only section of the ship with no lingering worries.
Carnival Cruise Line
One of the beauties of the Carnival cruise ships is their size, allowing space for a wide variety of activities and so have specially designed programs for the younger children and separate clubs for teenagers. Of course there are always things that the family can enjoy together like water parks with water slides and a 24 hour Pizza service.
These cruise ships offer real nurseries for kids aged 6 months to 3 years and a huge section of deck space specifically designed for the older kids with 10 separate activity areas, ranging from a science adventure lab and video arcade, to a workshop for crafts and a theatre. Of course other entertainment areas include comedy clubs, disco, jazz club and ice rink and so there is always something to entertain all the family.
These cruise ships are no longer just concerned about their “Love Boat”; they now cater for families as well as adults searching for a romantic escape. Although they still have activities that will appeal to any adventurous adult, they now also include activities specifically designed for kids of all ages.
Holland America Line
Although these cruise ships always have entertainment for adults in mind like, wine tasting, dance lessons, bridge and trivia competitions, they also have organized, supervised activities for children between the ages of 3 and 17, divided into 3 different age groups.
