Summer holidays can become quite exhausting when the sun is too hot and the beaches are overcrowded. If your idea for having some peace and quiet time all to yourself, rejuvenate and still enjoy the seaside, why not challenge yourself and try out some secluded destinations that have a lot to offer. Here are a selection of the best places to visit in Europe this hot season;
Iskele, Turkey

This is a place that has does not have a horde of tourists because they have less night life and water sports. A really great place to experience Turkish life and culture by interacting with the locals as you awe at its gorgeous white sand beach that is 7.5 miles long.
Paragruza, Croatia

The remote and rocky island of Palagruza is situated midway between Croatia and Italy. It has scanty Mediterranean vegetation due to its arid slopes. It has a lighthouse that dates back to 1875 where one can get to have a spectacular view of the area and stay in. It is still uninhabited except for the lighthouse keeper therefore ideal for the one who seeks to be far away from crowds and night clubbers.
Mljet, Croatia

This is an undeveloped gem of an island as it provides an escape from the throng of tourists in Dubrovnik and you still get to relish activities like kayaking, cycling the Big Lake and take a hike to Montokuc for awesome views. It also has two interconnected salt water lakes where one can have a good swim for it is warmer than the open sea. You will also get to go underwater and explore the caves and wrecks by joining the local scuba diving club. There is only one hotel on the island called Odisej that offers three star accommodation and a spa treatment.
Koufonisia, Greece

Simplicity and tranquility is what Koufonisia has to offer, it has two islands that are separated by a sea channel namely the Ano Koufonisi which is on the upper side and the Kato Koufonisi which is on the lower side. The Kato Koufinisi remains unpopulated but the Ano Koufonisi has a small community that live in cottages and their main economic activity is fishing. While here, you will get to see the long beach of Pori which is site to behold, its dazzling white sands and the turquoise shimmer of its waters are beautiful.
Comporta, Portugal

If you are a foodie, then Comporta is the go to destination for you, with fresh sea bass and a rice bowl, you will keep on asking for more at Comporta cafe. A glimpse of the area is of unmatched beauty with the colours of the beach effortlessly perfect. You could take your time here to reflect and meditate, a good way to relieve stress. Make sure you take a ride over the dunes through the paddy fields to cherish the moments.
Sant’Antioco, Sardinia

An excellent getaway from the multitude of tourists who flock the terrific Sardinia, Sant’Antioco is located south west of the main island. It is a place one can relax, choose a site with plenty of activities with lesser crowds and the best part is to enjoy nature from the beautiful beaches of Maladroxia to the rocky islands of Cala Lunga and Cala Sapone. Vacca and Toro islands are great places you can indulge in fishing under the water.
Porquerolles, France

Free of cars and with little development beyond the port village, Porquerolles is an island devoted to nature. It is found south of the provincial town of Hyeres and off the Giens peninsula. It contains olives, scrubs and vines. Notre Dame is just a 40- minute walk from the island and you can also hire a bike to get there in 20 minutes. It has exquisite sandy beaches to the north, cliffs and creeks to the south. The sea is quite clear and the slope provides the smoky fragrances of eucalyptus and pine. Porquerolles gives you a reminiscence of how the French Riviera used to be before it flooded with tourists, simple and captivating.
Fabulous places for summer vacation! All are best places, but I would love to choose Koufonisia, Greece. Thanks for sharing these great ideas.
