Many people like to go on vacation in the summer but a lot of those people mistaken think that a vacation to Europe is beyond their budget. Although many european holiday destinations are expensive, there are some which are cheaper and therefore can be considered as budget summer holiday destinations.
Some of the European cities that can be visited on a budget are; Warsaw, Rome, Dublin, Prague, Lisbon, Bucharest, Berlin and Istanbul.
Warsaw
In Eastern Europe, your money generally goes further than it would in Western Europe and in Warsaw this is apparent by the cost of the hotels which can offer 5 star luxury from as little as US$130 per night. Or, if you would prefer to stay at somewhere like the Polonia Palace Hotel, Warsaw’s only hotel that survived WW11 undamaged, it would only cost you about US$100 per night.
Rome
Perhaps a little unbelievable but no less true, hotels in Rome cost on average, less than hotels in other Italian destinations and are certainly cheaper than most of the other European cities. With cheap hotels and so much to see in the “Eternal City”, it should be on everybody’s list for possible vacation destinations.
Dublin
Apart from having frothy beer in abundance and cheap hotels, there are many free activities in Ireland’s capital, including many of the country’s top museums to visit.
Prague
Although Prague is listed as one of the top ten most visited cities, it is also listed as one of Europe’s cheapest to visit. This thousand year old city has a 10th century castle that dominates its skyline and that castle is just one of the many places which are free to visit.
Lisbon
Although Lisbon may be the capital of Portugal, Portugal in general is considered to be cheaper than its popular neighbour Spain. Although cheaper than Spain, Lisbon has many of the attractions that Spain has to offer, including sea and cobbled streets in its older places.
Bucharest
Bucharest has often been called Little Paris but it certainly isn’t its prices that get it that name. The city doesn’t even have an Eiffel Tower or Louvre but, it does have beautifully tree lined boulevards and it is those that got it its name.
Berlin
Although Berlin has once again become the capital of the re-united Germany and has undergone something of a cultural renaissance in the last 2 decades, it is still cheaper to visit than most of the other Western European capitals.
Istanbul
In the times of the Roman Empire, this city was already famous but had the name of Constantinople. Ideally situated between and linking Europe and Asia, this city is unique in many ways. Its uniqueness is not only because of its long history but also because of the way it beautifully mixes an Asian influence with that of a European one. Whether you decide to visit the European side, Asian side or both, you will still find the prices are cheaper than most other European destination hot spots, which is one of the reasons why, in 2014, it became the world’s most popular city vacation destination.
