Amsterdam is one of the most unique cities in Europe. With a city centre that is lined with beautiful canals, you may forget that you are actually visiting a capital city. Canal Cruise

Amsterdam is well known for its street being lined with canals and you can take a cruise along them which is one of the best ways to explore the whole of the city.  There are plenty of tour groups that offer you tours of varying kinds, such as a 45 minute round trip or a lunch or dinner cruise.

You can also use the canal boats as a form of taxi as some of them allow you to buy hop on and off tickets, meaning you can get around the city without having to deal with the road traffic.

Anne Frank House

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Europe is the house where Anne Frank hid from the Nazis for two years during World War II. The museum is visited by millions of people every year and is highlights some of the horrors that the people of Europe faced during the times of the holocaust.

The best time to visit the museum is during the mornings when the crowds are smaller, although the lines generally move quite quickly at any time of the day.

Van Gogh Museum

Holland’s most famous artist, many of Van Gogh’s works are housed in his own dedicated museum where you can also explore his life. Located in the brand new building on the Museumplein, you can admire some of his finest works and some of his own collections of Japanese woodcuts.

Vondel Park

One of Europe’s greatest parks, Vondelpark is a brilliant place to spend your afternoon people watching. The central park of the city holds the crown for being the best green space within the city and when the weather is nice, you will see plenty of locals sunbathing, cycling, skating, jogging and generally enjoying their morning and afternoon. Rijksmuseum

The largest and most prestigious museum for art and history in the Netherlands, the Rijksmuseum is home to an enormous collection of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age right up to modern day. Sadly, some parts of the museum are going under renovation, but the major pieces of art from masters such as Rembrandt are still being shown in parts of the museum.
