Most people tend to travel in the summer every year. That is fine but they can be missing out on some sensational trips in the winter. Some of the best winter vacations offer more than some of the summer ones. Here are possibly 10 of the best winter trips travel destinations for 2013:
01: Harbin Ice Festival, China


Starting the 5th January and lasting for a month, this Ice and Snow Festival attracts artisans from all around the world to create a City of Ice, including Pyramids and Palaces.
02: Mesoamerican Reef, Belize


This is the second largest reef in the world and although is only half the length of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, it is far more accessible. Belize also has three Coral Reef Atolls, one of which is home to the Great Blue Hole, a thousand foot wide sink hole first dived and made famous in 1970 by Jacques Cousteau.
03: Western Taiwan by Train


A bullet train ride through 48 tunnels and over 152 miles of elevated track. From February 23rd to March 10th the Hsinchu High Speed Rail Station plays host to the Taiwan Lantern Festival, when every night thousands of animated lanterns light up the night sky above one of Taiwan’s oldest cities.
04: Ruaha National Park, Tanzania


The Park is crossed by the Great Rift Valley and is home to the largest concentration of Elephants in the whole of Africa. Although many other animals abound, the Park is probably best known for being a birders paradise and for this, the best time is between January and April each year.
05: Cayman Islands


These comprise of three Islands in the western Caribbean and host a great many attractions. Being only an 80 minute flight from Miami, they make an ideal weekend getaway in the winter.
06: Salvador, Bahia, Brazil


This city hosts a Carnival that stretches for miles with music and dance and although the official Carnival dates in Brazil are from 7th – 13th February, in Salvador it always stretches on for at least another day.
07: Chena River State national Park, Alaska


Witness one leg of the Yukon Quest annual dog sled race. The park is the site of hot springs and tours are made to the best place to see the northern lights and witness this celestial light show.
08: Salzburg, Austria
Celebrations start here in early December. Legend here has it that Krampus, a horned Demon frightens naughty children whilst St. Nicholas gives the good ones presents. The region is famous for its Krampus parade and at the end of January hosts a week long festival celebrating Mozart.
09: Yellowstone National Park, Montana


From the middle of December till early March, the Park is a winter wonderland best explored on foot, ski or snowshoes
10: Toronto, Canada


This is Canada’s largest city and hosts 17 miles of underground weatherproof walkways with shops, subway stops, restaurants and entertainment venues. From January 25th to February 7th the city hosts the Winterlicious Foodie Fest, a delight in culinary tastes from all around the world.
