When looking for a budget vacation, people often look to Phuket Thailand but when looking for the best restaurants in Thailand or for the best places to eat in Thailand, whilst staying in budget accommodations, many overlook the Andaman coast which has a good variety of both.
Bamboo Bungalows, Koh Phayam – rooms £4.50 per night
These bungalows are located on the Island of Phayam which is a 2 hour boat trip from the northern part of Thailand’s Andaman coast line, close to the Burmese border. The island is famous for its Cashew nuts and full moon beach parties.

This resort is located on Koh Tao which is a lot less known than its neighbours, the islands of Samui and Phangan, which is one of its appeals but is still excellent for diving shallow waters among the epic coral.

Located on the Island of Jum, a short distance from the popular resorts of Krabi and Ao Nang on the Andaman coast, this are family run bungalows that happen to have as a family member, a gourmet chef.
Sun Beach Guesthouse, Prachuap Khiri Khan – rooms from £15 per night
This guesthouse is situated in the town of Pracuap Khiri Khan which is 6 hours south of Bangkok which, for the most part has been kept secret from the mass tourist trade but has a promenade style beachfront.
ThaiLife Homestay, Baan Nam Khem – basic cottages start at £16 per night
These are gorgeous villas set around a pond filled with lotus. They are located south of the village of Baan Nam Khem which is so relaxed and secluded; you will have to arrange for the resort to pick you up from Phuket airport.
Baan Talay, Chumphon – rooms from £16 per night
This resort is located in the town of Chumphon which is used as a transit point for the Islands of Tao and Samui but is worth stopping a while at, as it has a relaxing, gently sloping beach of its own.
Papa Crab Boutique Guesthouse, Phuket – doubles from £17 per night
This is a real bargain considering its location is in Phuket, one of the more popular destinations in Thailand. Located just 50m from the beach, bargains rarely come this good.
The Mangrove, Koh Chang – bungalows from £17 per night
This resort is located on Koh Chang which is in the heart of a 50 island marine park. The mangrove offers fan cooled, cute furnishings, plus superb food.
